It’s supposed to be early spring, but the first day of spring was more like a summer day. It was 90 degrees out. The sun was shining. The yard was green and lush. The trees were putting on their leaves. Even my rose plants were leafing out! Where did spring go?
Less than 24 hours later, and it is 60 degrees and slightly chilly. The good news is that nothing is projected to freeze. My son took the initiative to split some wood “just in case.”

That’s a whole lot of work for a young man who wasn’t even asked to do it. That will save us a lot on the electric bill by heating with wood.
Speaking of which, has anyone noticed the high gas prices? Our gasoline price shot up from around $2.04 a gallon in early February to as much as $4.10 for regular, not premium gasoline. I do a lot of driving for my work and really have to watch how much gas I use. I am combining errands and using GasBuddy when I can find information. Unfortunately, in my area, few people report gas prices.
Other ways I am saving money are by trying to reduce my monthly bills. My cell phone is required for work, but I was paying $124 a month for it. So, I paid off my device, thinking that would save me a bunch. It only brought my cell phone bill down to $73. I called Verizon and asked what they could do for me. Even after removing all insurance and downgrading my line, they could not beat a service called Tello. Tello got my bill down $26 per month. This plan has unlimited talk time, unlimited texting, and unlimited data.
It was easy to switch to using an e-SIM. I purchased the service, called my provider, and asked for my transfer pin number. Then I put Tello‘s e-SIM in, ported my number with my transfer pin, and waited. After that, it was a simple reboot of my phone, and I was active. If I can do it, anyone can! This one simple switch is going to save me $47 a month. That’s $564 a year I saved just by switching.
If I didn’t need it for work, Tello has plans as low as $8 a month. My son has his own phone line with Tello. I pay $6 a month for 100 minutes per month, unlimited texting, and 1 GB of data. I don’t know if they still offer this basic plan, but it’s great for kids! Now I never have to worry if he needs a ride.
Other than that, we have been slowly cleaning up the property. The back porch has been cleaned up a bit. Some of the front yard has been picked up. There’s still plenty of work to do, but we are working on it. Again, I spend almost every day on the road. Once I slow down with working outside of the home, I will have more time to work on the house.
