Around the House

I managed to declutter some old medicines from my house. I also reorganized some of the medicines that I still have, which are in date. I moved most of my sterile medical supplies to a specific cupboard. I intend to finish cleaning the medical supplies out this weekend. Although not about food, it is a housekeeping job. Old medicines can be unsafe. Unorganized medicine and medical supplies can be unsafe if children get hold of them. I have no small children, but I feel better knowing these are put up now.

I discarded outdated medicines. These can be discarded at our local sheriff’s office. I organized medical supplies and put them in the cupboard. Then I managed to get 7 quarts of ham soup put in the canner. I made the soup from this recipe. In the past, I would process for 90 minutes, but now I see it only needs 75 minutes. I am currently waiting for that to happen. I hope they all seal well. I usually have one or two fails.

I have also still been going through my kitchen dishes. It’s a slow process. As I said before, I have a lifetime of kitchen items to sort through. So far, I have found all the parts for the old toaster oven. I have found a broken blender. I have also found two large crockpots and three small ones. I am still searching for all the lids. The smaller crockpots are great for just two servings of beans. The large ones are for chili night or making soup for canning.

I still have to build out my son’s book bag for homeschooling. I will have to put in his flashcards, books, and some of his games. These games help him with some of his disabilities. He has autism and IDD. He also has low sight and some auditory processing issues. Having his book bag done makes the entire week so much easier for work, his doctor’s appointments, and therapy.
